TIME RUNNER (1993) Directed by Michael Mazo

Let’s get it out of the way; this is a terrible film. In a stack of 200+ ‘classic’ laserdiscs, I found this gem. Initially, my thoughts were, “Oh, this is Mark Hamill’s bitter response to Harrison Ford’s post Star Wars success”. You’d be forgiven for, again, assuming that this is a direct rip-off of Blade Runner. Upon sitting (and standing to turn the laserdisc) through this thoroughly confusing masterpiece, I can gladly say, this is not an imitation of Blade Runner.
No, no.
This is something much more sinister. A not-so-well-blended blend of the pillars of 80’s and early 90’s science-fiction and action films. There’s a bit of Back to the Future, a shitload of The Terminator (Techdyne Industries, really?) and some sprinkling of the X-Files, to a lesser extent. I’m surprised that moments from this film aren’t listed more frequently among some of worst ever. The edit is bizarre, to the point where I couldn’t actually understand how one scene possibly led to the next.
(SPOILERS) To give context, the film ends abruptly with a cyborg scientist and a farm pilot holding the baby incarnation of Mark Hamill, as the older Mark Hamill dies before them.
You officially know as much as I do.

Would I recommend it? Hell yes I would. It’s thoroughly entertaining for all the wrong reasons.
