UPDATE: It's circulating that these posters are indeed a fun piece of artwork, but not actually official. No one has claimed responsibility just yet.
If you'd told me in early 2012 that 'Star Wars: Episode VII' would see the light of day, I'd politely tell you to fuck right off. However, in a world where said film does exist (to the tune of 2bil dollars), we also get a sequel to cult-hit 'Spaceballs'.
Yesterday, posted somewhere in the mystical pits of a New York train station, four promotional pieces claiming to be official 'Spaceballs 2: The Search for More Money' found their way online. Little is known in regards to the film's produciton thus far, so it's likely this is just some really cool street art. HOWEVER, the film has been confirmed by creator Mel Brooks for some time now.
Brooks went on Adam Corolla's podcast 'Take a Knee', where he had this to say about the potential sequel: "And I'm thinking now, if I said, if I did a movie that came out right after Star Wars (The Force Awakens) comes out, you know, maybe a couple of months later, Spaceballs 2: The Search for More Money, I'd have a big weekend, you know, no matter what, even if it fell on its ass and you know, didn't get that money back," Brooks told Carolla on the podcast. "But that first weekend, the anticipation of seeing Spaceballs 2, would, you know...I still have Daphne Zuniga and I still have Rick Moranis if he'd do it, and I've still got me."
Mel Brook's original 1987 spoof-comedy staring Rick Moranis, John Candy and Bill Pullman did a damn fine job at making us fall in love with 'Barf' and 'Dark Helmet' as much as the counterparts they're poking at.
