"The script was just a bit shit"
Ok, he didn't actually say that. However, speaking with Den of Geek, the Swedish actor claimed that the third Thor film "is not on [his] slate". As it's become industry-standard for actors to sign mutli-film contracts for tentpole franchises, it seems Skarsgård is no exception; "I have a five-film deal with them, and they still have one option,". So far, he has appeared in Thor, Marvel's Avengers, Thor: The Dark World and Avengers: Age of Ultron.
What does the absence of Dr.Erik Selvig spell for the narrative of Ragnarok? Not a whole lot, I'm guessing. However, when probed about the fifth film, Skarsgård mentioned Avengers: Infinity War as a potential project.
Thor: Ragnarok will hit theaters on November 3, 2017, whilst the first part of Avengers: Infinity War is slated for release in May 4, 2018.
